Milne Bay is a large bay in Milne
Bay Province,
southeastern Papua New
Guinea. More than 35 kilometers long and
over 15 kilometers wide, Milne Bay is a sheltered deep-water harbour, surrounded by
the heavily wooded Stirling
Range to the north and
south, and on the northern shore, a narrow coastal strip, soggy with sago and
mangrove swamps. The bay is named after Sir Alexander Milne.

ReplyDeletePerfect display. For your information I took the Milne Bay postcard picture. My island is one of the two destinations in the Trobriand group of islands that passenger ships go to. Kitava is tucked away in the southeast of the Trobriand mainland (Kiriwina), and is the most beautiful of them all. There are three main villages on the island namely Kumwagea, Lalela and Okaburura. Only recently people, for personal reasons, have sporadically settled along the connecting roads. With the isolation from the nearest evident of civilization, the culture and traditions is still as vibrant.
